Homework 3 - (deadline: Nov 7th)

This homework requires that you read two research papers and summarize the key ideas that are presented. Both papers deal with QoS issues in WLAN, but address different concerns.

A. Grilo, M. Macedo, and M. Nunes, " A Scheduling Algorithm for QoS Support in IEEE 802.11e Networks ",
IEEE Wireless Communications, 06/2003

Adlen Ksentini and Mohamed Naimi, "Toward an improvement of H.264 video transmission over IEEE 802.11e through a cross-layer architecture",  IEEE Communications Magazine • January 2006, pp 107 - 114

1. Identify the problem that is addressed in the papers.
2. Describe the presented solutions.
3. Provide comments and observations about the solutions.
4. If possible, propose enhancements to the solutions in the papers.

Consider the following guidelines when writing your answer:

a-    Font size: 12
b-    Double-spaced texts
c-    Answer size of less than eight pages
d-    If used, reference external materials that contributed to your answer

Homework 2 - (deadline: Sept. 19)

This homework is a continuation of homework 1. Two more recent papers are added:

"Revisit of RTS/CTS Exchange in High-Speed IEEE 802.11 Networks", Proceedings of the sixth IEEE International Symposium on a World of Wireless Mobile and Multimedia Networks (WoWMoM, 2005)

"Why RTS-CTS is not your ideal wireless LAN multiple access protocol", Proceedings of IEEE Communications Society / WCNC 2005

Please use the same guidelines of homework one for your write up.
